The Thomas Mouland House was purchased from the Bonavista Historical Society after it's restoration in 2006. It is located in the Mockbeggar neighbourhood, the historic district of downtown Bonavista. The house has been deemed important to the community because of the man who resided in the 100 year old house. Thomas Mouland was a survivor of the Great Sealing Disaster, a disastrous moment in time that shaped the lives of Newfoundlanders for ever. The book, Death on the Ice, is a detailed account of the hardships sealers, including Thomas Mouland, endured and is mandatory reading for every child in school.
