Journey along the coast from Big Brook and the sheltered mudflats of Newman Sound. Hike through the forest to the abandoned settlement of Minchin Cove and on to South Broad Cove. Both are ideal sites for camping. About midway along the trail there is a 1.5 km (.9 mi) detour to the top of Mount Stamford; one of the most spectacular views in the park.
Hikers should notify Parks Canada staff prior to departure. Park entry permit and camping fees apply. Park entry permits and backcountry camping permits are available at park facilities.
Vertical Gain or Loss: Moderate to difficult hike. Wet areas and steep grades.
Not accessible by wheelchair. Trailhead accessible via Newman Sound Campground P section.
Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
