Newman Sound is a long shelter inlet in Terra Nova National Park. It reaches into the heart of the boreal forest and provides access to the coastal area of Terra Nova National Park.

Recreational Opportunities

Newman Sound is a beautiful place to kayak. Launch your kayak from Terra Nova National Park's Visitor Centre at Salton's Brook and head for the narrows. Just outside the narrows is a small island and a shallow tickle that is only passable by kayak. Paddle a little further and you will find yourself at the base of Mount Stamford.

Seasons Accessible

Summer and early fall (weather dependent)

Fees: Park entry permit required. Kayak rental fee.
