Just two kilometers (1.2 mi) from the East Coast Ferry landing in Argentia, the Sunset RV Park is well-situated to serve the tourist arriving in and leaving from Newfoundland. Being within the former U.S. Military Base, next to the historic town of Placentia, and near other outstanding attractions, it is a good location from which the tourists can centre their operations while traveling. This starts with the Argentia Backland Trail, also located in Argentia. Next door, in Ship Harbour is the international site of the Atlantic Charter meeting of President Roosevelt and Winston Churchill in 1941. Even closer is Castle Hill National Historic Site. About an hour away is an outstanding and accessible bird sanctuary at Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve. Nearby are the services needed from shops, clubs, restaurants, liquor store, police, fire, hospital, churches, arts centre, garages, etc. This makes it a good place for local tourists to also use as a place to stop while visiting this historic region.

The RV Park is located on a beautiful grassy hill overlooking Argentia and the waters of Placentia Bay. It includes 40 RV lots measuring 25 ft. wide by 80 ft. long, set at 45 degrees to the existing roads, with a 10 ft. buffer between each landscaped lot. This park provides all of the necessary services expected today for the modern RV user, namely: water, sewer, and 30/20 amp electrical serviced sites. It is owned by the Argentia Management Authority and operated in a partnership with the Placentia Area Development Association, both non-profit groups. A headquarters building where you register also contains washrooms and showers. There is a small kitchen for use, but users are responsible for clean-up.

To get to the park from the Marine Atlantic Ferry, head south on the road towards the TCH (Route 100) for about 0.3 km (0.2 mi) until you see the Argentia Sunset Park road sign (located on left side of road) and turn left onto Charter Avenue. Continue driving straight on Charter Ave for 2.3 km (1.4 mi) and turn left at the Argentia Sunset Park Road Sign (located at the entrance to the park). Proceed to the Registration Attendant for lot location and inquiries.

To locate the RV Park arriving from the TCH through Dunville (on Route 100), go past the Visitors Centre and take the first road on your right through the gate of the former military base and as you reach the top of a hill the entrance to the park is on your right.

The park is open seasonally from April to October.
