Former radar station high up on Elliston Ridge was part of the North American-wide defense system in the 1950's.

Evidence of the historic cold war are still present at this abandoned U.S. Distant Early Warning radar site. While the site has been abandoned for years the foundations of the former base can still be seen. Good exercise if you are looking for a strenuous hike.
